It's a 40' (12 m) fall from that veranda to the ground and legend has it that if one survives the fall/jump a wish would be granted. We were hungry and opted for lunch instead. #🍜 We arrived around 8:30 am to avoid tour groups and school trips; it opens at 6 am and was packed by 9:30. #Kyoto #京都 #kiyomizudera #清水寺
