Daddy's Home!

I have a lot of catching up to do from the spring and summer, never mind what we've been up to this fall. My Kit Kat collection has grown extensivly and not only from Japan, but other countries as well. Kit Kats from Australia, Kit Kats and Kic Kers from South Korea (thanks Heather!) and The Philippines. I "did inventory" shortly before Bob came home from sea and have over 110 flavors including Wasabi...and they're green! I'll start posting those soon, but for now I wanted to post one of my favorite moments from 2009.

This is from the USS George Washington's homecoming on September 3rd. They were in port for about a month before leaving again; they returned home the week of Thanksgiving.

I Saw "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" Tonight!

It was an advanced screening in Japan...and I had a ticket from the fan meeting two weeks ago. Click here to see pictures and read about the fan meeting along with how I got a ticket. The ticket I bought for ¥10,000 included the fan meeting and the advanced screening of the movie at Shinjuku Piccadilly Theater in Tokyo tonight, the 17th at 7 pm JST.

It opens in the U.S. on Friday the 20th, in Japan on the 28th and comes to the base theater on the 28th too. I'm exhausted and am going to bed but wanted to post a few pictures first...details will come tomorrow. If you want to know more right now you can click here to see Twilight Singapore's site. Back Home in Japan

What an amazing trip seeing Southeast Asia! We took a cruise from Shanghai to Singapore and stopped at nearly every country in between. I've got some catching up to do before I post about the cruise and since they'll be fairly short posts my plan is to get them done first. So hopefully within the next week everything will be posted and then I can write about Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Hong Kong and more....

Communication Blackout

And I have a really good excuse this time! Living in Japan is wonderful and we absolutely adore it here. As much as I'd love to see more of this country, we've decided to take advantage of living on this side of the world...

So in a couple of weeks look for pictures of us riding elephants in Thailand, scoping out the Singapore Zoo (we were there in Aug 2004 too), admiring the view from Victoria Peak in Hong Kong, walking through history in the Cu Chi Tunnels in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam and lots more.

I Haven't Forgotten

We've been busy and I've hardly been on my computer since my parents arrived last Thursday. I've got a lot of updating to do and lots of pictures to post here and in my Shutterfly albums....

This weekend will be busy as well. We're going on an ITT trip in the morning and on Sunday are heading up to Tokyo. I hope to get something posted tonight, and if not then it won't be until Saturday night or Sunday.

A Look at What's to Come

It's been a hectic couple of days and the next few will be as well. Last Tuesday I went up to Asakusa Temple for a field trip in my Japanese class. A small group of us went without our kids and it was a lot of fun. Yesterday we took an ITT trip down to Hakone. We visted a couple of the same areas from when we went this summer, only this time we added in the Hakone Open Air Museum; we even had the same guide, Kazumi! So here's a look at what's to come...and I've got a few videos that will be included as well.

I have a couple of things to catch up on in the next couple of days, but in the mean time, here's an idea of what you'll see. Shichigosan in Kamakura and Yabusame at Zushi Beach. And pay no attention to the juice spilled on my sweatshirt...yes, I actually spilled it on myself, can't blame Keanna or Sydney!

A Photo Teaser of Nikko

We went on an ITT trip to Nikko yesterday and had such a good time! When we got on the bus (at 4:30 am) the guide said it was going to be about a five hour drive...I immediately thought, "Umm, that's like going from Connecticut to Maryland for a day trip!"

I took over 450 pictures and have narrowed them down to about 300. But until they upload into Shutterfly and I am awake and alert enough to write the blog entry, here are some pictures to give you an idea of our Friday...
