It's Tsuyu Time

June is the rainy season in Japan, and it officially started yesterday. Here it's referred to as "Tsuyu" which translated into English means "plum rain." It's called that because it coincides with the season of plums ripening. It's been raining just about every day for the past week, and boy oh boy, we're certainly not in Hawaii anymore! March through May are spring months and July to September are summer. But June is the rainy season and it's earned its name!

Check out the ten-day weather forecast for Tokyo. Every day is rain. I bought a raincoat at Bass in Hawaii shortly before we moved, and I'm so glad I did. Now I definitely need to buy a heavy-duty raincoat for the girls because, for the most part, this isn’t going to be some light drizzle kind of a month. It’s going to be actual rain. Oh well, bring on the rain! Everything is growing quickly and is so pretty and green.
